the colbys episode 46 - “Devil’s advocate”

Frankie cannot trust herself around Phillip and that is why she does not want Phillip in the house. Geez, Frankie now knows how Sable must have felt when she fought with Connie to keep Frankie out of the house. Jason swears that Phillip cannot hurt them and that Phillip has a right to be in the Colby Mansion. Does Frankie really lack that much self control? Also, what is the attraction to Frankie? I don’t get it.

Don’t you feel any guilt, Frankie?

Because you should!

Phillip seems to be in a bit of financial trouble. While in the study with Monica, Phillip receives a call from a Mr. Sung who is part of some syndicate, that knows Phillip is not dead and that still owes them $2 million. So that Monica cannot understand what is going on, Phillip’s speaks in Chinese which Monica mistakes for Japanese. Actually, Monica pretended that she thought he was speaking Japanese. Phillip had the misfortune of speaking in front of the only Colby who understands Chinese.

Monica’s Chinese comes in handy

Monica tells Jason about Phillip’s phone call. Phillip is getting leaned on for $2 million. That is the same amount that Connie had wired. Further, a handwriting expect confirmed Jason’s suspicion - Hoyt Parker and Phillip Colby have the same handwriting. Jason pretty much has all the evidence he needs to show that Phillip Colby is Hoyt Parker. He does want further proof if he is going to stop Jeff from transferring 1/3 of his stock (value of $150 million) to Phillip.

Jeff is such a sucker

Phillip really could use the money. Now that the syndicate is aware that Phillip is alive (did not die in the plane crash that killed Connie), he needs to get his $2 million. But, the stock of Colby Enterprises has dropped and is now only worth $1.7 million. Phillip is screwed. That is, until Jeff tells him of his generous gift. Jeff is going to transfer the stock to Phillip by the end of the week (that is if Miles can’t get the lawyers to delay the paperwork). Phillip is elated. He can finally get the syndicate off his back.

Sable holding her cards tight

Believing that his financial troubles are over, Phillip continues to pursue Frankie. Sable warns Phillip that Frankie is in love with Jason and that he will not be able to win her over. As an interesting aside, we learn that Phillip dated Sable first and brought her to the house. Sable, unlike Frankie, was not willing to put out so that is why we are at where are at. [Frankie was always a slut.] Phillip pops by the pool house and tells Frankie to go away with him and they kiss. Frankie, however, pulls away. She does not want anything to do with Phillip. Stay strong, Frankie.

Why bother starting a business Fallon?

Now that Lauren is ready to come home, Jeff feels it is the best time for he and Fallon to get a house of their own (actually a great idea). Without consulting Fallon, Jeff purchases a home to surprise Fallon. But, Fallon does not want to leave the mansion. (Don’t worry, a little trip will change her mind.) They cannot leave Jason at this moment. Fallon, no, you need to get out of the mansion, especially with Miles creeping about. Not to be outdone, Fallon enters a real estate transaction of her own. She rents a space for her interior design business. Don’t you need clients first? Also, this business will not last long (thanks again to the little trip).

Some motherly advice

Sable has decided to let Kolya out of his contract so he can pursue a great opportunity in New York. Bliss asks her mother to reconsider. She is afraid that if Kolya goes to New York, that she will lose him. Bliss is unaware that she could go to New York with him. Sable advises Bliss that Kolya just got his freedom and Bliss needs him to have it. Let him go to New York - Bliss will not lose him. Bliss will only lose Kolya if she forces him to stay.

Drunk again!

Zach tries to apologize to Sable for having her fly to Los Angeles alone. To make amends, he invites her to lunch, but Sable claims to be too busy to see Zach at the moment. As always, Sable asks for Zach to be patient. Zach is starting to get pissed - again.

Some one isn’t thirlled

Channing is afraid that she may have ruined her marriage with Miles. She tries to explain why she took the pills but Miles does not know what to believe. What is true - fear of child birth, the rape, the abortion, and/or being barren as a result of the abortion. Channing swears that all of it is true other than being barren. Miles does come around and tells Channing there is nothing to forgive and agrees to help her through any pregnancy. Things may actually work out for the two of them.

Maybe they can finally find happiness

Adrienne, in her natural state of inebriation, calls Monica in the middle of the night to tell her all of Cash’s secrets - the biggest being that he wants a woman who is a whore. Get used to those calls Monica. The following day, Monica confronts Adrienne and warns her about working with Zach Powers. Wait, how did Monica learn of that? The two spar and Monica swears she has no intention of taking Scott away from Adrienne. Just as Scott walks in, Adrienne notes that Monica is the natural mother and that Adrienne adopted him. Scott finally learns the truth and runs off into his room. Great job, Adrienne.

Scott learns the truth!

To definitively get the proof that Phillip is Hoyt Parker, Jason flies off to Singapore to meet with Roger Langdon, of all people. How great is that? And, Jason thinks that Roger will help him get information on Hoyt Parker to help Frankie. Why would Roger know anything about Hoyt? Amazingly, Roger knows that Hoyt was involved with Maya Kumara - the wife of some dictator who relocated to Singapore after Kumara’s husband was deposed (murdered). Roger also sews some doubts into Jason’s mind about Frankie’s fidelity.

Look who it is

Jason pays Maya a visit (it’s Bianca Jagger). Maya knows Hoyt Parker very well. Hoyt is an arms dealer who owes a syndicate $2 million after the arms he promised never arrived (must have been diverted to Angola). Jason still is not certain that Hoyt is Phillip until Maya shows him a picture of Hoyt. They are one and the same. Jason wants the borrow the photo (what would that prove) but Maya has a better idea.

Hello, Maya

Jason never seemed to be the type to have the flair for the dramatic but he will make an exception this time. He has all the family to gather for a black tie dinner in the mansion. This will be a celebration for Phillip. With the family gathered, Jason arrives and with a guest - Maya. Maya calls Phillip by his other name, “Hoyt Parker”.

Memorable Dialogue

Zach: Maybe you think I’m a foolish schoolboy in love. That you can tease me as as long as you like. That would be very dangerous.
Sable: And trying to charm me with threats is also a mistake.

Sable: I also remember when they went to bed, you tried to get me into bed.
Phillip: Yes, but you were a bit too prim and proper.
Sable: Frankie wasn’t though. Was she?

Monica: Adrienne, I beg you, don’t do this to yourself.
Adrienne: I want to share a few secrets with you. It’s free. And, I thought Cash deserves to have all his fantasies come true. You see, he thinks he wants a lady, but what he really wants is a whore.

Frankie: Jason wants us all up at the house tonight for dinner.
Phillip: Well, when Jason whistles, everyone comes running. What about when I whistle?
Frankie: No

Monica: He lives with you.
Adrienne: We pace the same cell if that’s your idea of living.
