dynasty Episode 135 - The Dismissal

One can easily argue that in Season 6 Dynasty really has become a parody of itself (not that this is a bad thing).  Scenes are created just for some bitchy dialogue.  Krystle has become cartoonishly sweet and good.  Alexis is almost always in bitch mode.  As I said, this is not a bad thing.

I didn't know Alexis was a member of the Catherine Oxenberg fan club.

The fallout from Amanda and Dex's affair continues.  Alexis feels the need to go over to the Carrington Mansion at 7 a.m. to speak to Blake about Amanda.  Well, maybe it is more like Alexis wants to accuse Blake of corrupting Amanda which allowed her to sleep with Dex.  Blake will have none of this since Alexis had kept Amanda a secret for 20 years.  Blake feels it was Amanda's life in boarding schools that distorted her moral compass.  Really?  Either way, Alexis had her chance with Amanda and now Blake will deal with Amanda in his own way.

Amanda wants her man!

Amanda wants her man!

Blake will not be alone in this endeavor.  Krystle, the ever loving wife, will be there to support him.  It really cannot be that hard to support Blake - just go along with everything he wants.  Blake's great idea, he is going to take Amanda to Hawaii to get her away from Dex.  Amanda realizes the ploy and politely turns down the offer.  She loves Dex and will be with him.

It's been fun while it has lasted, Prince Michael.

Now we all know that Amanda is pretty much stalking Dex, but no one else in the family seems to realize this.  Amanda wants to talk to Alexis about Dex.  You would think that Amanda would apologize for sleeping with her mother's husband.  No, not Amanda.  Basically, Amanda wants Alexis to back off emotionally from Dex.  How else can Amanda have Dex free and clear if he is still in love with Alexis.  Wait, is this Alexis's problem?  Alexis scoffs at Amanda's ridiculousness and reminds her not to call her mother.

Seriously????

Seriously????

I almost forget that Amanda was still married to Michael.  Michael has great news for Amanda.  Galen has sought asylum in Portugal and Michael refused to go with him.  Now, Michael is willing to be the man that Blake wants him to be.  He will start a family and run La Mirage - no more royal pretense.  Too bad, it is too late because Amanda wants Dex.  Michael confronts Dex but that goes no where because Dex can pretty much kick Michael's ass and everyone knows it.

Yeah, I guess it is serious

Yeah, I guess it is serious

Dex's hopes are up when Alexis summons him to her office.  Alexis is playful and hints enough that she is willing to forgive Dex such that Dex is ready to make love to Alexis again.  There is no way in hell Alexis has any intention of sleeping with Dex.  She wants to buy Dex out of Lex-Dex Corp.  Dex refuses to sell.  The two will just have to work together in business.  Alexis accepts this by promising to bury Dex.  Seems like the partnership is going in a new direction.

Alexis has some choice words for her daughter

Alexis has some choice words for her daughter

Rejected by Alexis, Dex decides that he wants Amanda.  Wait, this is not a dream sequence.  Dex really has had a change of heart with respect to Amanda.  That's just gross.  But, I guess Amanda is there to stay for the time being as Krystle discovers when she finds Amanda in her towel in Dex's suite.  Okay, like me, you are probably wondering why Krystle would even be going to Dex's suite to talk to Dex about Amanda.  Who the hell is she anyway?  She is definitely not Dex's mother.

You can cut the sexual tension with a knife.

Meanwhile, Adam and Steven lose a second round in court with respect to the pipeline.  One more such loss and the project will be stopped permanently.  Adam tries to convince Steven that they need to fight dirty and go after Bart Fallmont personally, especially over Adam's suspicion that Bart is gay.  Why did Adam think the Steven would have anything to do with this?  Oh, even better, why is Adam having this conversation in public right next to Bart who overhears everything.  Gee, turn around and see who is within earshot before engaging in such underhandedness.  Later, Bart thanks Steven for not telling Adam anything.  Steven moralizes that Bart should just come out of the closet so he would never have to be a victim of blackmail.  Yeah, but at this time, Bart would also never be a Senator.

Just some light morning reading.

Just some light morning reading.

There is another interaction between Steven and Adam - kind of pointless except that it reminds us the Claudia still exists.  Adam catches Steven as he is getting off the phone with Claudia.  Adam wants to know where Claudia is but Steven refuses to tell him - if Claudia wants Adam to know, she will tell him herself.

A new maid decides that she is going to leave her copy of the National Informer (with it's famous Sports section) at the breakfast serving station.  Blake tries to keep it from Krystle but Krystle is going to see it anyway.  Blake will stop at nothing to make sure that Rita and Joel are caught.  It really would have been so much easier to kill them in that car accident.

That is some excellent acting Sammy Jo

Anyway, Sammy Jo continues to provide the police with the same information because they keep asking her the same questions.  This is getting no where and Blake wants the police to try harder.  Sammy Jo has another idea.  She contacts Morgan Hess and wants to send him to Rio, all expenses paid, to find Joel and Rita.  Morgan is apprehensive because he lost his license as a result of Sammy Jo's requests.  This one isn't illegal.  Furthermore, is there only one private investigator in Denver?  Looks like Morgan will be going to Rio after Sammy Jo kind of promises him sex if he finds the two.  Sammy Jo is becoming a new person, well outside of her "seduction" of Morgan.  Krystle just wants Sammy Jo to turn her life around and Sammy Jo thinks she may be able to do so.  How sweet.

Alexis is dreaming of Blake

Alexis is dreaming of Blake

There is also a pointless scene between Sammy Jo and Amanda.  I guess it is not pointless because it will be the beginning of tension between the two.  Sammy Jo is preparing Danny for a walk and Amanda decides she is going to butt her nose in this and tell Steven that she is leaving the grounds with Danny.  Sammy Jo pretty much tells Amanda to shove it and comments on her failed marriage.

Aunty Caress is now hitting up Adam for information about Alexis.  Adam is very astute and remembers Caress as the woman staring at Alexis previously at La Mirage.  Caress admits that she is busted and that she had a falling out with her dear friend, Alexis, and is just trying to get back in her good graces.  The publisher is ready to go to print with the book, but Caress wants one more chapter.  And, the only way Caress is going to get that chapter is to finally speak to her sister.  The two have a "pleasant" lunch together filled with plenty of sisterly sniping.

Air kissing and all for the reunited sisters.

Air kissing and all for the reunited sisters.

Alexis has a dream about her tumultuous relationship with Dex and then the dream turns to her relationship with Blake - but just the good times with Blake.  Alexis awakes and realizes that she is in love with Blake, it has always been about Blake.  Duh?  So, once again, Alexis is going to try to seduce Blake.  I don't know why Alexis thinks she could accomplish this all in a day (he is kind of married), but you can't fault the woman for trying.

Alexis presents Blake with a project to donate Lake Colby and the surrounding land to the state of Colorado as an animal sanctuary.  It will be a public relations coup and allow for the pipeline to move forward.  Alexis gives Blake the proposal and asks him to stop by Colby Co that evening to hammer out the final details.  In anticipation of Blake's arrival, Alexis sends everyone home.

It's never good when Alexis is smoking!

It's never good when Alexis is smoking!

Blake stops by and is game with respect to the lake.  The only issue is that he wants Denver Carrington to compensate Colby Co for half the value of the lake.  Alexis is fine with that and then suggests that she and Blake merge, but just not in the business sense.  Blake turns down both (aren't the two companies going to merge anyway when the children inherit both) and that sets Alexis off again.  Now, she loathes Blake again and is determined to destroy him.  But, she will not be doing this alone.  Oh no, she is going to get a person who loathes Blake as much as she does - Ben, Blake's brother.

[Sidenote - the episode's last scene and Alexis's reaction to being rejected by Blake is reminiscent of what happened at the end of Episode 56, the Vote.]

Memorable Dialgoue

Amanda:  Why don't you let him go?
Alexis:  I have, believe me, I have.
Amanda:  I'm not talking about the divorce, I'm talking about his feelings.  He still wants you, why don't you tell him it's over.
Alexis:  He should have thought about my feelings before he took you to bed, why should I bother about his.
Amanda:  Because I love him.
Alexis:  Then, I pity you both.

Amanda:  Maybe, I can give him something that you never could.
Alexis:  What prey it that - immaturity, post-adolescent passion.  Take if from me, Dex loves real women, not pale imitations.

Alexis:  I'll pay you above market value for your shares and then you can retire - on your back for all I care.  Name your price.
Dex:  It's not for sale, Alexis, and neither am I.
Alexis:  I know you give yourself away

Sammy Jo:  Well, what do we have here, trying to fill Fallon's shoes as the young witch of the house, Amanda.  No wonder your marriage is in trouble.  You're so busy holding on to your broom stick that you can't even hold on to your husband.

Alexis [to Caress]:  Come and sit down and have some lunch.  I had them prepare something light because I always know you're on a diet.

Alexis:  Darling, my life has been a fairy tale compared to yours - all those years in jail must have been hell.
Caress:  Yes, well, all that's behind us now, isn't it?
Alexis:  It's behind you. . . and two years off for good behavior - with whom?

Caress:  Well, you certainly come a long way in five years.
Alexis:  Yes, put it down to a combination of business brains, ruthlessness and feminine intuition.
Caress:  And good timing.  You've always had perfect timing, Alexis
Alexis:  Yes, as mummy used to say - time serves us or we serve time.

Alexis [to Blake]:  You see, every one of my marriages since you has failed because I've been trying to recapture what you and I had.

Blake:  We're going to be strange bedfellows, but only in the boardroom, never in the bedroom.
Alexis:  Every man I have ever loved has tried to control me, but not any more.  Oh, I tried to become the wife you wanted, the wife Dex needed, the woman who fit the mold.  But, I broke that mold and now I'm going to break you.
