dynasty Episode 144 - The Rescue

While Amanda sleeps, Alexis and Ben talk about their plans on the patio.  All of a sudden, a maternal feeling comes over Alexis and she suspects there is something wrong with Amanda.  When Alexis is unable to reach Amanda's room at La Mirage, she decides to rush over.  Of course, Alexis needs to change first.  

Meanwhile, Blake is worried about Amanda.  No one has heard from her since the afternoon when he stood her up for some business with Faruk Ahmed.  Blake feels he has done something wrong but Krystle assures him that he is a great father.  That pretty much is Krystle's role for the time being.  Oh, how I long for the days she was locked up in the attic at Delta Rho.  Okay, I will not go that far.

Alexis makes it to Amanda in time.  As the paramedics are arriving, Alexis gets Amanda to walk around and finally forgives her.  Perfect timing for mother of the year.  Amanda is rushed to the hospital which means there will be some sort of conflict between Blake and Alexis.  At least they wait twelve hours to fight over blame.  On a positive note, the fight is what finally wakes Amanda.

Blake is determined that no harm will ever come to Amanda again, so he brings her back to the mansion.  Once at the mansion, Blake tells Amanda that she needs to rest which is odd because that is what she had been doing for the last two days, thanks to her overdose of barbiturates.  Okay, this is enough about Amanda.

Dominique visits Garrett at La Mirage just before Garrett is leaving for good.  Wait a minute, he is finally giving up just after he learns that Jackie is his daughter.  Come on, that is stupid.  Dominique knows it is not real and proposes to Garrett.  Wow, that was quick.  And Garrett accepts.  Wow, that was quick.  Wait a minute, did I mention how quick that was.  Good for them.

Adam is not thrilled that Steven wants to investigate his work at Denver Carrington.  Adam promises to give Steven anything he requests but Steven does not trust him.  Steven has a good reason not to trust Adam.  Adam goes to Sammy Jo and gives her some advice.  If she marries Clay Fallmont then the court would give her custody of Danny.  Sammy Jo would no longer be forced to visit Danny at the mansion and stay with him on the grounds.

Clay invites Sammy Jo and Danny to the circus.  Slight problem, Sammy Jo cannot take Danny out of the mansion.  Problem solved - Sammy Jo is just going to do it and not tell Steven.  Another problem - Steven is at the mansion when Sammy Jo goes to get Danny.  Another problem solved - Sammy Jo tells Steven to relax or else she will go get married and get custody of Danny.

At least Claudia is no longer part of this mess.  Now that she has her damn well, Claudia is ready to leave the Carrington family for good.  Claudia says her goodbyes to Danny (again, I could have sworn she had done that another time) and runs into Krystle.  The final meeting between Claudia and Krystle brings back old times as Claudia tells Krystle off and calls her the most dangerous Carrington because she sits back and watches all the shit happen.

Caress finally tells Ben what it will cost for she to remain quiet - $12.5 million.  Ben knows better than to be blackmailed and has a great plan.  He is going to have Caress serve out the rest of her prison term in Caracus.  Ben flies down to Venezuela and convinces the prison guard to open up a cell for Caress.  There is just one problem, how to get Caress to Venezuela.  Extradition is not a timely option.  Ben has a better idea.  He gets Caress to meet him in a car where she exchanges a copy of the manuscript to Sister Dearest for $50,000.  Caress is stupid for getting in that car because someone was in the backseat.  The man chloroforms Caress and is to air freight her to Caracus.

What does Ben want a copy of Sister Dearest for?  He already read it.  Oh, Ben plans on using it to double cross Alexis.  Alexis thinks she has the Chinese in her pocket as she tries to swindle to South China Sea leases from Blake.  But, the Chinese are actually working with Ben and Ben is more than happy to provide them a copy of Sister Dearest so they can learn about the real Alexis.  Clever Ben.  No honor among thieves.

Alexis is oblivious to this double cross but she is certain that she has Blake right where she wants him.  Heck, Alexis is so confidant that she just goes to the mansion to visit Amanda without calling first.  How rude.  Blake wants to talk to Alexis about Amanda but she just ignores him as she goes down the stairs.  But, before leaving, Alexis has a few words for Blake - she is going to get everything Blake took from her - the children and the house.  At least Alexis did not say the house first, though I bet she cares more about acquiring that than the children.

Memorable Dialgoue

Ben [to Caress}:  Besides, I want to make you feel comfortable.  I understand beds and books are your territory.

Claudia:  Oh, come on, Krystle, I was a mercy book in here and you know it.  Having little old Claudia around made the rest of you feel all the more superior.

Claudia [to Krystle]:  You know you've always fascinated me.  While the rest of this family manipulates and turns brother against brother, you stand by radiating this glow of passive acceptance.  You allow the treachery and that makes you the most dangerous Carrington of them all.

Steven:  There isn't a court in this world that would be impressed by anyone who would marry you.

Krystle:  Well, what are you doing here?
Alexis:  I've been asking you that question for years and I still haven't heard a satisfactory answer.

Krystle:  You think you have free access to this house and everyone in it - don't you?
Alexis:  Nothing is for free in this life.  You, of all people, should know that.  After all, you've charged enough.

Alexis:  You listen to me, Blake.  Everything I have ever loved you've taken away from me - my children - one by one - this house.  Well, take a deep breath Blake because the children and this house and everything that belonged to me is going to be mine again.
