dynasty Episode 34 - The Two Princes

As we near the end of the season, many of the plot lines of Season 2 are wrapped up and we are preparing for the story lines to start Season 3 (hence, the reference to Adam in the last episode).

There is good news and bad news in the Carrington family - isn't there always. The good news is that Fallon's child, one prince, will be returning home. The bad news is that Steven, the other prince, is in jail for assault and refuses Blake or Andrew Laird's help. One cannot blame Steven since Blake believes that Steven had returned to his gay lifestyle. Why else would someone buy a man a few drinks in a bar (it wasn't a bar) and bring him back to Denver? Blake wants Steven to plead guilty since he did hit the man. Legally, Blake is correct on this one. Even if Duane was attempting to blackmail Steven, it does not give him the right to assault him. Once again, Steven needs to prove his manhood and will deal with this on his own.

Blake, as well as Fallon, is excited that the baby will be coming home. Just to scar the child for life, Fallon named her son Blake, and will forever be known as Little Blake (L.B. for short). L.B. also has his own nurse, Susan, who seems to have had some history with Nick Toscanni. What a small world! The staff of the house is excited to greet Master Colby while Susan, the newest member of the staff, seems less than thrilled to join the Carrington inner circle. Then why take the job!

Krystle is excited to have a baby in the house but she pisses off Fallon by holding the baby. Fallon does not want Krystle around the child. Krystle know what this is about - Fallon blames Krystle for her losing Nick. Krystle lets Fallon know that is ridiculous - Fallon did a good job of losing Nick on her own. Why go for Nick anyway Fallon, Jeff is willing to make another go of it. Jeff knows the lost of being raised without a father (doesn't he have a mother?) and does not want the same for L.B. Fallon is not ready to discuss such matters.

Is it a smart idea to bring a baby in the house with a mentally unstable woman living there. Claudia is determined to go to South America and get Lindsey. At least she miraculously recovered from the gun shot wound and her hair grew back as if it was never shaved to operate to get the bullet fragment. She may have recovered physically but she is crazier than ever. Another telex arrives that confirms that Matthew and Lindsey are dead. Blake breaks the bad news to her. At least it reminds Claudia what happened the night of the shooting with Krystle. Krystle is exonerated.

But, Claudia is sinking deeper into nuttiness. She hears L.B. crying in his crib and she goes to him thinking it is Lindsey (since Lindsey has reversed aged 14 years and has had a sex change). Claudia picks up L.B. and calls him Lindsey. Why hire a nurse if she is not doing her job?

Even though Blake wants to destroy the studio, Krystle talks him out of such rashness since Blake is still on probation (oh yeah). Now that Blake has pushed away Alexis again, Alexis is ready to marry Cecil and accepts his proposal. And Alexis accepts over a breakfast of pizza and pink champagne. Cecil is suspicious of this change of heart but Alexis assures him that she loathes Blake and nothing turns her on more than talking about how horrible a person Blake is. Everyone has their fetish. Trespassing in the mansion, Alexis tells Krystle the good news and promises her that the reception will be one that all of Denver will be speaking (oh yes it will).

You remember a few episodes back that Nick and Blake settled their differences with respect to the suicide of Gianni. Well, wouldn't you know it, Rashid Ahmed had something to do with it and when Nick learns that Blake has some dealings with Ahmed (of course he does not know the extent of those dealings), Nick's memory of Gianni's suicide is sparked.

Steven decides not to plead guilty and is ready to go to trial for assault. He returns home in time for the celebration for L.B. but is not in the mood. Later that evening, Steven confronts Alexis about paying off Sammy Jo. Blake also wants a word with Steven, but Steven is tired of his father's efforts to make him the man that he wants. Steven and Blake make enough noise to get the rest of the family to enter the study. In the study, Steven pretty much tells off the family and accuses them of forcing him to be straight and then rejecting the woman he selected. Steven announces he is gay and wants one family member to say it. Only Fallon complies. Before leaving, Steven tells the family he hates all that they stand for but loves them. He also hope God will protect L.B.

Memorable Dialogue

Alexis: Tell me some more about how much you hate Blake. I find that very exciting.
Cecil: There's no love lost between us and I do something about it everyday

Blake: This won't be considered simple assault, it will be homosexual assault.

Fallon: Oh, too bad doctor. Look at the prize package you let go of - Fallon Carrington Colby - one of the richest girls in all of Colorado. Get back to your patients, doctor. Go on, get back to work and excuse me while I get back to my life.

Fallon: Look, Krystle, I don't like you around the baby. I can handle him. I don't need my father's wife to help.
Krystle: I'm not going to take this as an insult, Fallon, because I think I know what's eating you. This has something to do with Nick, doesn't it? Fallon, I was never really involved with him and I'm not now. I'm not holding him with any invisible strings. If you lost him and you want to know the source - just look into any mirror in the house.

Krystle: And if you really are that anxious to see him, why don't you phone Fallon and ask her to bring him to your studio.
Alexis: Oh, you talk about him like he's a piece of luggage. Could you be jealous?
Krystle: No, just amazed by you for not realizing you're the one who's excess baggage around here since the day you moved into that studio.

Steven: You really know what hurts me the most, is I hate what you all stand for. I hate your values, your morals and your blindness. But, I love you, I love you all very much. [Steven starts to leave as L.B. cries] The heir apparent; the little Carrington prince - God help that poor baby.
