dynasty Episode 69 - The Proposal

Jeff is angered that Kirby is carrying Adam's baby and even for a moment he questions whether Kirby was actually raped.  Kirby convinces him otherwise and Jeff will handle it in the manly way.  Jeff drives off to the Carrington Plaza construction site.  Yeah, there will be a fight at the construction site, and, of course, Adam is on the top floor.  Jeff undoes his tie as he prepares for the inevitable show down.  Adam makes a few snide remarks about Kirby wanting it, and the fight is on.

How romantic

How romantic

Adam is not the best fighter on this program, but that is to be expected from someone as evil as Adam - manipulators tend to lack physical strength (just ask Alexis).  As Jeff has Adam's head hanging off the edge 15 stories up, Jeff mentions that Kirby's baby is Adam's.  Adam claims that he did not know.  As if this makes all the difference with respect to the rape.  Jeff let's Adam go and the two retreat to lick their wounds.

Adam returns to Denver Carrington and stays there late thinking about the revelation.  Since Deborah Adair needs to be paid for this episode, Tracy tries to console Adam but Adam really is not in the mood to bed the assistant to the head of Public Relations.

Hey, do you remember when we used to do it?  Yeah, me neither.

Meanwhile, Jeff stops by La Mirage for a drink.  It is a shame for him that Fallon is still in Los Angeles hanging out and hooking up with Peter De Vilbis.  At least Claudia is there for some friendly advice.  Claudia may have some mental issues, but she does know about complicated relationships.  Besides, the two did have a relationship back in the day.  Jeff just does not know what to do.  He clearly is still in love with Fallon who does not want him.  Claudia advises Jeff just to talk it out.  Hey, you get what you pay for!

Yeah, I find this plot line boring too!

Jeff returns to the mansion and it is apparent that Kirby has packed her belongings.  If you want to leave and not be found, you really should not leave the flight information on the nightstand.  Also, why does Jeff have a picture of himself on the nightstand in his room, and a solo shot at that?  Wait, I need to focus.  You know why you leave the flight information - because you want Jeff to come find you which is what he does.  Also, it helps when you intentionally miss your flight.

Kirby tells Jeff that she is tired of running and that she has finally come to her senses that the two of them never should have married.  Jeff was vulnerable at the time and Kirby was just so in love with Jeff that she was blinded to the reality.  Finally, some sanity in this relationship.  Glad it worked out.  Oh, but there is still the issue of Adam.  Kirby and Jeff return to the mansion and Adam is waiting to speak to Kirby on the stairs.  Kirby does not want to speak with him. You will have to eventually Kirby since you both live in the same house.  It is big, but not that big.

Dex is determined to enter into a partnership with Alexis.  Alexis keeps pushing him off and with good reason - Alexis is going to make the deal with respect to the tar sands on her own.  Dex gets wind of it when she leaves important papers lying around her office and leaves Dex alone in her office.  Amateur hour, Alexis.

Alexis flies off to Calgary to deal for the leases but learns that Dex has just purchased the company.  Alexis will have to deal with Dex and now Dex is not willing to allow for a 50/50 partnership.  Now, Dex will give Alexis 40% of the action.  Alexis acquiesces and then agrees to meet with Dex in his hotel room to seal the deal.

Alexis finally gives in to Dex, business wise!

Alexis finally gives in to Dex, business wise!

The Motor Lodge in Calgary has great accommodations.  I am impressed.  Alexis now seems willing to accept Dex's sexual advances.  Ahh, but it is all an illusion.  After getting Dex all worked up, Alexis leaves and tells Dex that she does not go to bed with the same man who screws her financially in the same day, at least.  Dex is not done with her yet.

While Alexis is enjoying the sites in Calgary, Mark is enjoying the scotch in Alexis's penthouse.  Steven stops by to pick up some papers and Mark bad mouth's Alexis.  Steven defends his mother and then goes to Krystle to get a feel on Mark.  Steven just does not understand why Mark would agree to be Alexis's body guard when he hates her so.  Does anyway who works for Alexis actually like her, other than Steven?

Claudia seems to be getting more comfortable in her role as Mrs. Steven Carrington and even tries to rope Steven into helping her pick a fabulous outfit for the upcoming Carousel Ball.  That is one of the advantages of marrying a gay man, but Steven is too busy with work.  Steven also suggests, gently, that Claudia take some advice from Alexis with respect to fashion and Claudia seems ready to accept her transformation.

Blake, how do you do it, get your date to come home with you to cook you something?

I guess we are supposed to accept that Krystle is competent as head of Public Relations as she takes primary responsibility for the press releases asserting that Denver Carrington is more profitable than Colby Co.  Alexis takes exception but Blake is very impressed.  Of course, Blake would be impressed with anything Krystle does.

The two go on a date to the movies and Blake invites her back to the mansion so that she can make him a western omelette.  Well, that is all Krystle needs to finally accept Blake's invitation to going upstairs.  Blake creates a romantic mood and presents Krystle with a fat diamond engagement ring.  Krystle accepts Blake's proposal.

Memorable Dialogue

Alexis:  Turquoise is a semi-precious stone, Mr. Dexter, again, you under-estimate me.

Adam:  Still climbing to the top.
Jeff:  Where you're concerned, I had to lower myself.
Adam:  You should have been here yesterday, where you're standing right now, there was nothing but a twenty feet drop.

Jeff [to Adam]:  That's it, crawl.  That's how you'll get through the rest of your life.

Krystle:  Have a nice flight - are you taking a plane?
Alexis:  Krystle, what a wicked sense of humor, I'm almost beginning to find you interesting.

Alexis:  I never buy anything on sale, Mr. Dexter.

Dexter:  Where are you going?
Alexis:  Home.  Nobody takes me to the cleaners and to bed in the same day, Mr. Dexter.  Good night.
