dynasty episode 4 - Fallon's Wedding

Neither of the Carrington children seem that happy.  Fallon really does not want to marry Jeff.  She tells Cecil that she would marry him, but Cecil does not find that advantageous to either.  Besides, the money has already been wired to Denver Carrington, now Fallon needs to keep her end of the bargain.  Blake would love for Fallon to marry Jeff.  Jeff can do no wrong, even smoking pot and going skinny dipping is okay since he is unaware of the courting rituals of the young people.  Fallon does have one problem, though.  Jeff has not asked her to marry him.  Cecil assures Fallon that she will make sure he does.  Ain't that a piss - not only do you have to marry someone you don't love, you have to get him to ask you.  Good luck, Fallon!

You'll get used to being married to Jeff!

Steven, meanwhile, is just a pretty miserable person.  I am glad he came back to Denver to find himself, which means acting depressed.  Some of New York came with him though, as Ted Dinard, Steven's old lover in New York, calls him and tells him he would like to see him.  Steven does not believe it to be a good idea, but relents.  Honestly, Steven, you could have done better than Ted.  What is he - like 10 years your senior.  Okay, I am being judgmental.  But, still.  Anyway, while at dinner, Ted pretty much begs for Steven back but Steven is not ready for that.  Even better for Steven, the prick of a co-worker sees the intimacy between the two.  That prick cannot wait to tell all co-workers about Steven being a pre-vert.  Steven is ready to fight him, but Matthew does so because he happened to piss Matthew off also.  Matthew asks Steven about it, and Steven tells Matthew that he loved Ted, is not ashamed of it, and still wants to work for them.  Matthew tells Steven he can do what he wants.

Now, why would Steven want to work for Matthew and Walter?  The business is not going very well.  And, to make matters worse, the bank cuts off credit to the two, when Michael decides, on his own initiative, go to the bank and pretty much threaten harm to the banker's children if he does not cut off funds to Matthew and Walter.  Oh, did I forget to mention, Michael pretends he is doing it at the request of Blake.  When word gets back to Blake, he is pissed.  But, at the same time, he respects that kind of initiative.  The end result - Michael gets a raise, will continue to drive but take on special projects as Blake sees fit (no questions ask).  Kind of sounds like the mafia to me.

Don't cross Blake Carrington

Michael is busy.  He also manages to get a date with Cecil's executive secretary, Jennifer.  Blake was not kidding when he said Michael was ambitious.

At least Michael can stop pursuing Fallon.  Fallon has a mission and she manages to get Jeff to elope with her in a single lunch.  It is amazing what some alcohol and a tape of Carmen can do.  When Fallon returns and wakes Blake and Krystle with the good news, they are excited.  Seriously, you are excited that Fallon eloped?  Fallon sure as hell isn't.

Love that tape recorder!

Love that tape recorder!

Oh yeah, one last clean up item.  Cecil gives Krystle some cryptic advice that makes Krystle believe that Cecil may not be the friend that Blake believes him to be.  Rich business people have some messed up relations.

Memorable Dialogue

Michael:  About tonight, I got a date.
Fallon:  Pay her $10 and enjoy.

Cecil:  Oh, hi Blake, we were just talking about you.
Blake:  All lies, I expect.

Cecil:  Worse, the truth

Oil rig worker:  You're calling me a drunk, but you're sticking up for the pre-vert.  Maybe, you're one of them too, Blaisdel.  Maybe that's what drove your old lady into the nut house.

Blake:  Loyalty to me in more important than life.
