the colbys episode 38 - “the legacy”

Jeff and Miles rush back to Los Angeles (must be record time) to have a family meeting (minus Bliss) regarding Connie’s death. It appears that Connie’s plane crash - or possibly it was bombed - on its way back to New Delhi. Jeff and Miles were able to look at the wreckage - really - but they found nothing, including the $2 million that Connie had had wired to her. There still is the matter of this mysterious Hoyt Parker, a man who goes by many names. Jason suspects Hoyt may be responsible for Connie’s death. But, will they ever find this Hoyt Parker? Things may become easier for them since Hoyt is now in Los Angeles.

Who needs Bliss?

Now what is Hoyt’s connection to Connie

Sable won’t shed a tear for Connie’s death because she believes Connie is responsible for almost ruining her life. However, Sable is determined to get it all back, which includes Jason (it always includes Jason). Sable believes there may be some hope for that, because Jason has pulled away from Frankie following Connie’s death and has even moved back into the House. Jason won’t let Frankie console her but won’t stop Sable from seeking his. Of course, Sable gloats and Frankie feels a little insecure. But, Frankie takes action and whisks Jason away to the Colby Ranch in Eureka.

Sable never misses an opportunity

The best part of Connie’s Memorial Service is the outfits the women wore. Sable and Channing get high marks while Fallon is the worst (it had horrible memories of Kirby). Also, not a good took for Monica with the side pony tail - don’t ever do that again. Zach, of course, is at the service and tells Jason afterward that Connie had promised that Zach would never have the main seat at Colby Enterprises while she was alive. It looks like things have changed.

Always fierce

Channing is fierce to. Monica - no.

We got to have the reading of the will. As a final dig to Sable, Connie leaves her the bracelet that Sable had used to make Connie think she was going senile. But, Connie redeems herself by giving her voting shares and seat on the Board (if the Board allows it) to Miles. Miles is loving his moment in the sun and his belief that Connie has faith in him. Miles gloats to Jeff. Sable now thinks she has the power she needs to manipulate the Board. Miles, however, has other plans. He will be his own man. Sable swears that Connie did this on purpose and throws that ugly bracelet into the fire.

Miles is going to be him own man. I can’t believe it.

Even though Sable has made up with Monica - Sable believes she is losing her grip on her power. She goes to Zach and Zach assures her that it will all work out. During the discussion, Sable lets it slip out that Jason is no longer in Onishi Electronics, but is interested in a U.S. microchip maker - Southwest Synchrodine. Sable, I don’t think you are allowed to disclose confidential and proprietary business matters to Zach. Yes, it was a quick reference, but Zach heard it and we all know he will use that information to his advantage. It’s a good thing that Sable forgot to mention that the Board had rejected Jason’s plan to acquire Southwest Synchrodine.

Sable needs to stop talking business with Zach.

For some reason, Connie’s Memorial Service made Adrienne horny. She tries to rekindle her marriage to Cash after the service but Cash wants nothing to do with her. In fact, Cash is ready to leave her. Adrienne cannot stop Cash from leaving her but she can stop him from taking Scott. Later, Scott finds Adrienne drunk again and Adrienne tells him that Monica is coming between her and his father. Who doesn’t love the drunk mother telling her son that another woman is going to destroy her marriage? An angry Scott returns Monica’s books to her and lets it be known that he wants nothing to do with Monica again. Monica, naturally is confused, but does not chase after Scott.

I think I would pick Monica too

Georgina clearly has her sites set on Kolya. She tells Bliss that she and Kolya had more than just a dance relationship in New York the previous year. Kolya assures Bliss that he had no romantic relationship or intentions with Georgina. Bliss believes Kolya until she falls for one of Georgina’s games. In a classic maneuver, Georgina makes sure that Bliss arrives just in time to see Georgina throw herself at and kiss Kolya. Even though Kolya pulls away, Bliss runs off. Oh come on Bliss, you are falling for this.

Seriously Bliss

Lucas Carter’s hit piece has its intended effect. People with nothing better to do have sent Jason hate mail calling him a traitor and threatening to kill him. Wait, people did such things before Facebook? Even though Jason tells Monica that he does not need extra security (just press the lawsuit against Lucas), he does try to get in touch with the head of security.

Comb your hair, kid

Why worry about random crackpots, when it looks like Jason has someone else ready to kill him. Hoyt tries to get a hold of Jason, but ends up talking to Jeff instead. Hoyt pretends to be Connie’s banker in New York and needs Jason to provide some information. Jeff tells this random stranger that Jason is away for a few days at his ranch in Eureka. That makes sense. With the information from Jeff, Hoyt some how manages to find Frankie and Jason and while the two are kissing, he has a rifle pointed at them, ready to shoot.

I think Sable may approve.

Memorable Dialogue

Sable [to herself about Connie]: Well old girl, I’m not crying for you. You have a good, long life. Just about destroyed mine. You brought Jeff into this house and Frankie. You broke up a family that had been happy for 28 years. I can’t forgive you for that. But, I swear to God, I’m going to get it all back - my marriage, my family, my home.

Jason: But you weren’t a friend.
Zach: An old acquaintance. We met many times - the last time in your office. Remember, I told you. She invited me in, sat me behind your desk. “Enjoy it” she said. As long as I’m alive you’ll never sit in that chair again. She was right. I never did as long as she was alive and now she’s gone.

Adrienne: I remember, why don’t we call him Scott.
Cash: Adrienne
Adrienne: You couldn’t call him Colby. Could you? So you gave him his mother’s family name - Scott. My boy. I’m sure you thought I’d never catch on. Did you have fun with that. Did you smile every time you heard me say her name day in and day out for the past 7 years.
Cash: All right. All right. Let me get you one of your pills.
Adrienne: I hate you. I hate you for that. And I’ll make you pay. I’ll never let you leave me.

Sable: Having breakfast alone. Oh, I should have invited you to join Jason and me up at the house.
Frankie: Thank you. I don’t mind being alone right now.
