dynasty episode 170 - valez

Steven feels terribly guilty for sleeping with Sammy Jo once again.  He should have thought about that before going to bed with her.  Why do these awkward moments always happen the morning after?  But, they must happen.  Even though Steven apparently has no problem making love to women, he still desires men.  He just does not seem to sleep with them.  Sammy Jo is heartbroken and somewhat shocked by the turn of events.  What the hell did she expect?  Stop sleeping with a gay man.  It's funny - Steven seems so certain about what he wants and yet continues to do the opposite.  Go figure.

Can't even blame this on alcohol, Steven.

Can't even blame this on alcohol, Steven.

Steven feels that it is best for him to leave Delta Rho.  Danny does not agree and like every child in every television program, Danny blames himself for Steven wanting to leave.  I guess many kids blame themselves.  I never blamed myself for the failure of my mother's two marriages (granted I don't remember her divorcing my father).  Wait, why I am I talking about myself.  Let's go back to mocking Danny crying for Steven leaving.  At least Alexis approves of Alexis's actions.

Don't worry, Danny, the season is almost over.

Speaking of Alexis, everyone is concerned about her relationship with Dirk.  Dirk is a corporate raider and Alexis should not get herself wrapped up in that.  Alexis, being the smart business woman that she is, has no intention of becoming Dirk's partner in the takeover of Trouville Industries.  As Alexis tells Dirk, she does not take over companies (unless it is Denver Carrington, of course, or a newspaper, or a publishing company - you get the point).  Alexis changes her mind after every man in her life, particularly Dex, tries to convince her not to deal with Dirk.  Way to be spiteful, Alexis.  Also, that is not a smart business move and I just called you a smart business woman.

Alexis hates showing people out.

Neal is very interested in Alexis's dealings with Dirk and wants Adam to provide him with the information.  When is Adam finally going to learn that this blackmail will never cease?  At least Adam learns that it was not Neal who had him followed.  Funny, it turns out to be Blake who is concerned about Adam's well-being.  That is a funny way of showing it.  Good thing that Blake did not hire Morgan Hess.  Adam is pissed that Blake would have him followed (wouldn't you be pissed) and wonders what else Blake may be on the verge of learning - like Adam is really Michael Torrence.

Neal won't stop.

Changing gears, Clay and Leslie continue to grow closer.  In fact, the two even use the love word with each other.  I guess that is appropriate after making love.  Then again, Steven and Sammy Jo say they love each other too and see how well that has worked out.  Regardless, Leslie is hoping that Buck and Ben can put aside their differences and all can be happy.  Oh, Leslie, you have a lot to learn.  Actually, Clay has more to learn.

They definitely have gotten further than Fallon and Adam.

Before we get to the obvious climax involving Krystina and Sarah, we might as well finish up with what is happening with Steven and why this episode is named Valez.  Apparently, Steven delayed his leaving Delta Rho because he decides to take out Danny's favorite horse, Valez, and rides him hard.  No pun intended.  Steven's stunt double seems to ride Valez too hard and he is knocked from the horse.  Good thing Steven was not pregnant (not that it worked for Kirby).  Poor Valez has broken its leg but will not have to be put down.  Unfortunately, Valez can never be ridden again.  Danny's dream has been shattered but Steven seems to take it harder.  Steven claims to be a horrible father and hurts the one's he loves.  There is only one solution, hurt them even more, by definitely leaving.  Makes sense to me.

Wow, Steven has changed

Krystina just loves having Sarah around but Sarah confides in Krystina that she will need to be leaving soon.  Blake and Krystle overhear that and Blake is relieved that his concerns regarding Sarah were wrong.  Blake should have stuck with his original impression.  Aunty Dominique comes to pay a visit and sees that Sarah has put Krystina in cute pony tails.  That would not be so bad except that Dominique been snooping and realized that Sarah is dressing Krystina up like her dead daughter.  Why does Sarah keep leaving that photo album out in the open?  Dominique tells Krystle and Krystle politely suggests that it is time for Sarah to leave.  Sarah agrees.

Heck, might as well make Sarah the nanny

But, Sarah has no intention of returning to Wyoming.  Instead, Sarah rents an apartment nearby and tells the landlady that she will be bringing a daughter.  Fortunately for Sarah, the landlady is about to leave for Mexico to join her husband.  That is rather convenient since the landlady will be unaware of the kidnapping when it makes it onto the news.  Luck is totally on Sarah's side.  Just before she is supposed to leave, everyone leaves her alone with Krystina.  Sarah grabs Krystina's medicine and Krystina and gets out of the mansion.  Krystle is distraught when she cannot find Krystina and even worse when she learns that Sarah took one of the cars and Krystina and left the grounds.  That's what you get for having so many cars.

Memorable Dialogue

Dirk:  Tell me something, Alexis, is there anything you don't know?
Alexis:  No, if there is, it's not worth knowing anyway.

Adam:  You really are a pig, McVane.
Neal:  And you're a pathetic fraud.
