dynasty Episode 171 - "The sublet"

The only good thing I have to say is that there are only four more episodes left in the season.  It really has dragged on a long time.  Krystle, for obvious reasons, is a wreck.  She blames herself for bringing Sarah in the home and not listening to Blake.  Blake decides it really is not the time to rub it in Krystle's face and says that they do everything as a couple.  Besides, Sarah loves Krystina and would not do anything to intentionally harm the child.  I guess that would be a great consolation, if not for the fact that Sarah is crazy.  Not Claudia crazy, but still a tad crazy.

As expected, Sarah is going to try to force Krystina to become little Cathy.  Not surprisingly, Krystina resists this and just wants her mommy.  This will not be an easy conversion for Sarah.  It does not help matters when Krystle gets on the news to make an appeal to Sarah.  Krystina hears the appeal and believes her mother is there.  Wow, this is so boring.  Even better, this is in a 24 hour span alone.  Just drug the child.  Or, better yet, drug me.

Maybe there is a better plot line going on in this episode.  Not really, but what the hell, I should cover it anyway.  Dominique is all decked out as she walks through the lobby of the Carlton.  Who does she happen to run into - Nick Kimball.  Where has he been all this time?  Nick convinces Dominique to cancel her next meeting and go to dinner with him in San Francisco where she can have here favorite dish - Parisian cassoulet.  Honestly, I would have expected something better for Dominique.  Good thing the champagne isn't burnt.

Anyway, Nick flies Dominique out on a chartered jet and he reserved the entire restaurant just for the two of them.   Dominique is very flattered by the attention and loves the change in Nick's arrogant attitude (I didn't notice any change).  Maybe she also loves the fact that Nick has struck it rich on two more oil wells.  Regardless of the change in Nick, Dominique assures him that she will not sleep with him.  Rather presumptuous Dominique.  But Nick does not want to bed Dominique, he wants to wed her.  What?!?  If she isn't going to sleep with you, why do you think she will marry you.  That's crazy.  Nick gives Dominique time to consider it.  Well she only has a few more episodes to make up her mind.

While the whole family is concerned about the fate of Krystina, Adam is still a wreck over his identity.  Before he hits rock bottom again, Adam advises Alexis not to give so much money to Dirk Mourier for the hostile takeover of Trouville Industries, but Adam will not tell Alexis why.  He probably should have, but he does tell Neil McVane of Alexis's intentions.  That provides an excellent opportunity for Neil who, teamed with Michael, will get the CEO of Trouville to prevent the takeover which will cause the stock to plummet and cost Alexis a pretty penny.  At the same time, Neil and Michael will make a nice profit for themselves - insider trading be damned.

After betraying his mother, Adam visits a dive boxing spot and challenges anyone there to fight him.  The boss kicks him out since Adam is obviously drunk.  That does not stop one of the boxers from the arena to confront Adam in the alley and the two fight.  Considering the number of times that Adam has had his ass kicked on this show, he does not do bad, but still gets beat up regardless.  Instead of calling for medical help, the police take Adam into the station where he is bailed out by a disappointed Alexis.  Adam tells Alexis to leave him alone and let him rot.

At the same time, Dana may actually be making a connection between Adam's demise and the release of Neil McVane from prison.  How she makes this connection is beyond me.  But, good for her.

BTW, Steven is okay.

Let us return to the fate of Krystina.  Since Krystle is so fragile, Blake and the police keep everything from her, but Krystle must have learned a few investigative techniques from Pamela Sue Martin's Fallon/Nancy Drew.  An individual tries to call Sarah about a sublet she had called about the previous day.  Krystle then tracks down yesterday's paper with a few sublets conveniently circled by Sarah.  I know, Sarah actually circled them and didn't keep the paper.  Krystle goes to Sarah alone and convinces her to open the door.  Krystle is reunited with her coughing daughter as Sarah crouches in anguish over what she has done.  Gee, I hope the owner of the place is able to find a new sub-lettor because I doubt Sarah will be able to stay there.

And it ends up as well as can be expected.

Memorable Dialogue

Adam (to Alexis):  I see you brought the Rolls.  I thought you might decide one of your less conspicuous jaguars in case one of the media latched onto some of this.
