dynasty Episode 66 - Tracy

You know what we have been missing so far in Season 4, new characters.  Now, how do we know when new characters arrive (other than the actor/actress appearing in the opening credits)?  The episode is named after that character.  Meet Tracy Kendall, she is the assistant to Bill Rockwell and the highly recommended candidate to be head of public relations at Denver Carrington.  And, she would have probably got the position too if Blake had not decided to give it to Krystle.  You know, the former secretary who some how can run a department for which she has no training other than life.  Tracy is rightfully not happy getting passed over by the woman Blake hopes to remarry.  She takes out her righteous indignation on this poster board plan she had developed.  What had that poster board ever done to you, Tracy.

Welcome Tracy - mullets are all the rage

But, can you really hate Krystle - she is just so sickening sweet.  Tracy knows how the business world works so she will happily assist Krystle while silently seething for being screwed.  Well, now we have that dynamic set up for the next few episodes, so we can move on.

That poor poster board!

That poor poster board!

While we are adding new characters, maybe we should have some ridiculous scenes with characters from Season 3.  We really haven't seen much of Mark.  I guess he was just giving tennis lessons and all.  So we are not Mark-deprived, we have Mark going to Krystle's suite at La Mirage to ask her to dinner.  Krystle is not in the mood, and she most definitely is not interested in re-marrying Mark and returning to Ohio with him.  This sets Mark off who physically attacks Krystle and tries to rape her.  WTF?!?  Krystle manages to get him off of her with a punch to the back of the head (learn that Kirby).  Mark apologizes the next day and blames the booze.  Krystle really wants nothing more to do with Mark.   Mark needs something else to do.

I guess we needed Mark to do something

There is also some pointless scenes with Kirby although these scenes tend to go with the plot and do not come out of left field like Mark's attack on Krystle.  Kirby feels shut out of Jeff's life because she is.  Blake has sworn Fallon and Jeff to secrecy about the poisoning and Alexis's "role" in it.  While Kirby is shut out, she notices that Fallon is included.  Kirby confronts Fallon and Fallon assures Kirby that she has no designs on Jeff and that Kirby should talk things out with Jeff.  Well, Kirby has been trying, Jeff is the one who is not cooperative.

Kirby then has a flashback of telling Krystle the truth about her child's paternity (for those who have just started watching what, at this point, is a Top 10 show).  After the flashback, Kirby vows that she will not tell Jeff a thing and keep it a secret.  Now, you are getting the hang of things, Kirby.  That night, Kirby tries to talk to Jeff while the two are in bed.  Not actually talk, but ask for sex.  Jeff turns her down because it does not seem natural enough.  Yes, Kirby ain't too proud to beg, but Jeff's mind is elsewhere.

I'd look the same way if Kirby begged me for sex

There is no time for a honeymoon for Claudia and Steven.  For some reason that makes no sense, Alexis and Claudia are together with Danny - but this is the same day that Steven won custody.  Why does this not make sense?  In the last episode, Alexis returned Danny to the apartment and then Steven and Claudia returned later.  So somehow, Steven left again and Alexis returned again.  Thank God for short memories.

Anyway, Claudia wants to encourage Danny to have a relationship with Blake, but that does not sit well with Alexis.  Alexis, however, will not let on to Claudia.  Instead, she is going to try to force a wedge in the relationship between Claudia and Steven.  Now, if I was going to do that, I would try to get Steven around some attractive men to tempt him back to the dark side.  Alexis, instead, springs a business trip on Steven in San Francisco with the head of Colby Co's west coast operations.

It was only to be a day trip until Alexis sends that man to Anchorage for the day.  Normally, an over night business stay should not cause tension in a marriage, but it does here, especially after Fallon warns Claudia of Alexis.  As if anyone needs to be warned.  Steven detects Claudia's displeasure.  He also puts his mother in her place and refuses to move into the same apartment building as Alexis's penthouse.

Adam's extra-curricular activities

Adam's extra-curricular activities

Alexis should be less focused on interfering with Claudia and Steven, and more focused on her sociopathic son, Adam, who is about to set her up for the poisoning of Jeff.  Adam goes to the yard where he purchased the paint laced with mercuric oxide and replaces the invoices he signed with the ones signed by Alexis.  Of course, you would think since these are Colby Co invoices that there would be similar invoices in the Colby Co files.  Okay, stop being so technical here.

Oh Andrew if only you knew you were pointing at the one who poisoned Jeff

Blake is finally able to track down Adam after Adam had a session with his regular hooker.  It seems that Adam is getting rougher with the hooker but Adam tells her that is only because he is about to lie and it is putting him under a lot of stress.  Screwing your mother to save your ass = rough sex.  Got it!  Anyway, Adam tells Blake that Alexis is the one who tried to poison Jeff and that he was just covering for her.  Blake had wished Adam had come to him sooner.

Jeff wants to confront Alexis, but Blake tells him that he will handle it.  Besides, he needs more evidence, since the paneling was burned.  Conveniently, Blake is able to get a copy of the Colby Co invoices with Alexis's signature and he wants Andrew to talk to the D.A. to have Alexis charged with attempted murder.  Andrew says they will need way more evidence than a couple of invoices.  Also, I suspect that Andrew believes Adam had more to do with Jeff's poisoning than he told Blake.

If Blake cannot have Alexis prosecuted, he will pursue a different path.  Before Blake is able to confront Alexis, Alexis confronts Adam about those papers he had her sign the previous day.  She knows that Adam is up to something and when she finds out, Adam will pay.

Blake finally scored one against his ex-wife

Blake finally scored one against his ex-wife

Alexis finds out soon enough when she returns to Colby Co to find Blake waiting for her.  Blake accuses Alexis of poisoning Jeff and has the invoices as proof, just not enough proof for a criminal charge.  Blake wants Alexis to return the shares to Jeff and to stop the merger or else he will tell everyone what she had done.  Alexis is screwed, and, in turn, she is going to confront Adam for what he had done to her.

 Memorable Dialogue

Blake:  Not think, Alexis, I know.  I warn you, if you're even five minutes late for that board meeting, I will not only inform the board members of the whole sickening story, I'll go public with it.  I'll leak details to the press about an unnamed widow who was prepared to murder to get what she wanted.  There will be enough clues in the story to destroy your reputation for good here in Denver and in the oil business as well . . . Not even five minutes late, remember.

Alexis:  I want to see you at my apartment immediately.
Adam:  I'm very busy, I can't make it for half an hour - can't you at least tell me what it's about now.
Alexis:  You know damn well what this is about by dear son, and you're days of getting away with it have just ended.
