dynasty Episode 21 - The Mid-East Meeting

For some reason, this episode is entitled "The Mid-East Meeting" even though there is no meeting in the Mid-East, unless Rome was moved.  More on that later.

It is now a few weeks since Krystle's miscarriage, and Krystle is becoming more despondent.  She feels she has failed Blake.  But, Blake knows how to cheer her up - pearls.  Yeah, jewelry always works.  When it fails, Blake decides he is going to force Krystle to see Dr. Nick.  Blake may not be able to fix many of his problems, but he will fix this one.  Krystle, at first, refuses to see Dr. Nick.  Krystle does begin to recover and is even willing to attend a family dinner, which is instantly ruined by Fallon with her uncanny ability of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time.  After another command from Blake, Krystle, agrees to see Dr. Nick.

Krystle may be looking bad, but Claudia is looking much better.  She is working at Denver Carrington and is living somewhere.  Claudia happens to be working in the file room which is perfect for Cecil who has learned that Denver Carrington has developed an improved way to extract oil from shale.  Now, how is Cecil to get that information?  Well, try to woo the new woman in the file room - Claudia.  Cecil invites Claudia to dinner and she reluctantly accepts.  At dinner, Cecil tells Claudia that he is willing to help her look for Matthew and Lindsey.  Hmmm. . .  Well played Cecil, it is rare for a man to use his sexuality to extract favors.

Steven, rejected by Claudia, is going to turn to blonde bimbos even though there is one living in the Carrington mansion who is willing to be with him - Sammy Jo.  It is so unnatural seeing Steven with a woman who he is so willing to return to her place.  Blake happens to see the two leave and tells him the next morning that the woman is pretty much a hooker.  Why should Blake care if she is a whore - at least she doesn't have a penis.  Steven just cannot win.

Fallon, on the other hand, is having a rough time.  She is pregnant and none to happy about it.  She wants to end her marriage with Jeff and marry Nick.  I mean she has only been with Nick for a few weeks and she is already in love with him and wants to marry him.  Wow, if Nick has such power - why is it taking him so long for him to get his revenge on Blake?  Not only does Fallon want to end her marriage, she wants to end the pregnancy.  Jeff, in a breach of medical ethics, learns of Fallon's appointment for an abortion and he demands that she have the child.  She can have the divorce, after she gives birth to his child.

Fallon's not happy about being pregnant - or is it the doctor's gown?

Alexis manages to get her favorite suite in Rome where she can entertain the elusive Rashid Ahmed, who looks like a really bad Burt Reynolds impersonator.  (The actor, who happens to be an Italian from Brooklyn, also played Julia Cumson's ex-husband on Falcon Crest.)   Rashid is no dummy, Alexis wants something.  She most certainly does, she wants access to those tankers with the Denver Carrington oil, but the details can be worked out after a night of love making.  Ahhh, Alexis.  The next day, Alexis calls Blake and tells him he must rush to Rome for a meeting with Ahmed - but don't tell anyone, including Krystle.  Blake agrees.  After getting off the phone with Blake, Alexis tells Ahmed that she will come up with a good reason why Ahmed will not be there when Blake arrives.  Oh Alexis, another one of your fibs.

Memorable Dialogue

Fallon:  Tomorrow morning. . . oh that's awfully early, is that the only appointment she has. . . 9:30.

Fallon:  Oh Steven and his mysterious dates.  And what about Sammy Jo also conspicuous in her absence.  Probably roller skating in the attic.

Fallon:  Don't turn psychiatrist on me, Nick, not in bed.

Steven:  You said that it made you sick - me putting my hands on another man.  Okay, I'm putting them on women.  I mean aren't you satisfied.
